It snows on Mars every night
The space probe Phoenix, sent to Mars by NASA , has intercepted snowflakes falling from the clouds of the Red Planet. Experiments conducted upon the martian soil have also shown evidence of past interaction between minerals and water, ScienceDaily announces.
A laser device designed to gather information on the interaction of the soil and atmosphere on Mars has detected snowy precipitation falling from the clouds hovering at about 4 kilometers above the landing spot of the space probe. The information shows that the snow has vaporized before touching the ground. However, it falls every night. “ A similar view has never been seen on Mars.”, said Jim Whiteway from the York University in Toronto, coordinator of the Phoenix meteorologic station. “ We will search for evidence showing that the snow does reach the ground.” The experiments of the Phoenix probe have also indicated the presence, in the martian soil, of calcium carbonate, the main chemical compound of chalk, as well as particles which might be clay. Most of the carbonates and types of clay on Earth only form in the presence of water. Phoenix’ mission, initially planned to develop on Mars for 3 months, is now in its fifth. However, the probe is starting to face difficulties in gathering solar energy, which is diminishing and it will conclude its mission before the end of the year. Before the energy supply is stopped, the Phoenix team will try to activate a microphone on the facility, in order to capture possible sounds on Mars.

Not only do calcium carbonate (chalk) and clay form in the presence of water, but, and I may be wrong here, doesn’t calcium carbonate come from dead and deposited sea creatures (crustaceans, I think) and clay from , mostly, dead plants? Does this mean they have confirmed all the conspiracies that stated they were hiding life on mars?
If there was any evidence of life in the solar system, NASA would be keen to publicize it as much as possible to acquire more funding.
It could arguably be the single greatest discovery mankind has ever made, there’s no way all the employees involved could be forced to keep a secret like that.

for funding they need not publicize to the whole world. only to the govt. which funds their activities.
btw, Titan has lakes of Methane. Care to guess how that forms on Earth? They process of chemical formation need not be same everywhere
I know one way. Mammals can self produce Methane. If expelled silently, the maximum amount of methane can be released.
Often times, if I’m not mistaken, the silent emission of methane gas can be quite deadly.
Calcium carbonate had to exist on the planet before life existed, for obvious reasons. Just because it is present does not indicate the presence of carbon-based life forms.

I think in general we look at life on other planets/in other galaxies etc entirely the wrong way. just because everything living on Earth is carbon-based does not automatically make all life forms carbon based. maybe (and this is just theorizing of course) there is some form of life that does not require the same conditions that were required on Earth for life to form and proliferate. maybe there is a life form that uses salt like we use water. or is not carbon based but…i dunno…nickel based. i think that searching for water is a great way to start, but i think we take for granted how little we actually know about anything outside our own planet.
Is it because it costs more money in the end to have an iPhone?
